10 Tips for Being More Truthful

Barbara A. Lewis
Tip 1: Make a commitment to tell the truth

Reflection: This means that we should commit ourselves to telling the truth. If it is broken we must get back to the path we have committed to.

Tip 2: Tell someone about your commitment

Reflection: Tell others so they can help you keep your commitment. If you receive help, take it. Help from others will allow you to prosper and make it far.

Tip 3: Think before you give a dishonest answer

Reflection: We need to think about what we are going to say before we say something that is not true which leads people to believe are doing something for that reason when it is not true at all.

Tip 4: Be careful of when and how you used exaggeration, sarcasm, or irony.

Reflection: If we over use these too much, our minds will be used to the thought of exaggerating the truth, sarcasm, and irony on a daily bases. We must avoid stretching the truth as much as possible or else we will not be able to tell the honest truth and not use sarcasm.

Tip 4: Be careful not to twist the truth or leave out part of it

Reflection: When twisting the truth, you become more unreliable and end up making people believe in something that may not be true at all. Twisting the truth makes everything worse for that person who told you something and what you say to others. If something is gonna be shared on a topic, say the whole truth and nothing but the truth. Do not leave any parts out or else everything will be unreasonable.

Tip 5: Be careful not to twist the truth or leave out any part of it.

Reflection: This means that we must say the honest truth and not leave anything out or else it will not be the absolute truth. If you twist it or leave parts out, things will be lost and no one will truly know what happened, just what you told them.

Tip 6: Don't indulge in little white lies

Reflection: This means that we should not get in the habit of lying even if they are small lies. No lies are good lies so we must not become a part of all this.

Tip 7: Watch out for silent lies

Reflection: This means that we should watch out for silent lie. We should not pass silent lies to lead people to believe in something that is not true at all. For example, if you see something bad being done and say nothing, that is an example of a silent lie. If you speak up, its not a silent lie.

Tip 8:

Reflection: This means that if we catch ourselves lying, we must stop and make it so that it is all true and not just a lie. We must not indulge in the lies, we must make it true and absolutely true.

Tip 9: Talk to yourself

Reflection: This means that you should talk to yourself to know you are still sane. Double check to see if the things that you are planning on doing are correct and they are the right thing to do. Think of all the things you plan to do and talk to yourself to make sure they are right or not and if they are, stop yourself

Tip 10:Treat yourself when you tell the truth

Reflection: This means that you always reward yourself when the truth is said. Always make yourself feel good after you tell the truth as a reward or else telling the truth will not be fun. If you are not telling the truth then you will not be trusted and no one likes a liar

Reflection: The ten tips will help us through life and allow us to be good people. When you catch yourself lying, throw your mouth into reverse. If you do not do this then you will be indulging in little white lies and silent lies. We must talk to ourselves and not twist the truth or leave any part out of it. We must be careful not to exaggerate the truth or no one will believe us. If you tell the honest truth then you should treat yourself to something special because you have done something good.
